SURVEY: The view of the French on issues related to vaping (2022)
John Cloud2022-07-06T18:09:52-04:00Like every year, Harris Interactive offers a survey on vaping commissioned by France Vapotage. If some data confirm the usefulness of the electronic cigarette, the progression of the French mentality on vaping is not obvious despite the passage of time.
WHAT SHOULD I LEARN FROM THIS SURVEY?
First of all, it is important to know that the survey “The view of the French on issues related to vaping” was carried out online from May 12 to 26, 2022 with a representative sample of 3,003 people aged 18 and over. .
First of all, at the end of the health crisis, there is a reinforced perception of the dangerousness of certain products which nevertheless does not concern vaping. Indeed, although still considered harmful by a majority (59% consider it dangerous), vaping is the only product whose dangerousness has not increased in the eyes of the French. We even note a significant drop (26%, – 6 points) in the idea that it is a “very dangerous” product for health.
Although still considered harmful by a majority (59% consider it dangerous), vaping is the only product whose dangerousness has not increased in the eyes of the French.
Fears about e-cigs focus in particular on two points: the long-term risks (still little known, 48%) and the presumed dangerousness of liquids (44%), which are even more worrying than the presence of nicotine in liquids (31%).
According to the report presented, the vape remains a real alternative to tobacco for the French. Indeed, 50% of French people (with a slight increase since last year, +2 points) consider that switching to electronic cigarettes can be effective in completely stopping tobacco consumption. A perception that vapers themselves seem to largely support (over 8/10 of them). And for good reason, most vapers link their practice to an anti-smoking approach.
